Big news! After months of hard work, UUMFE is thrilled to announce a brand new website, with new resources, a gorgeous new look, and a blog that foregrounds action alerts and cutting-edge tools and stories to further your connection with the larger environmental justice movement. The website launch also corresponds with the release of UUMFE's 2018 Earth Day & Climate Justice Month resources. See below for four great ways to prepare and plan!
Earth Day & Climate Justice Month Activation
UUMFE’s 2018 Earth Day / Climate Justice Month theme is Justice for #EachGeneration, in solidarity with an interfaith coalition and the 21 youth and young adult plaintiffs of Juliana v. USA. Take action: plan a worship service that engages youth or young adult leadership, explore the concept of intergenerational equity, and organize multigenerational arts, advocacy, ritual, education, and celebration this April. Download UUMFE’s full resource packet now!
Hear Kiran’s Story of Suing the U.S. Government
Kiran Oommen is one of the youth plaintiffs in Juliana v. USA, suing the U.S. government over climate change. His mother, Melanie Oommen, is a pastor at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eugene, OR. On a webinar on February 28 at 8pm EST / 5pm PST, they will share their stories, experiences, and insights. A brief legal update will also be given by Coreal Riday-White of Our Children's Trust. Get inspired: Register now to join this live event.
Film Screening Deal: The Reluctant Radical
The new acclaimed documentary The Reluctant Radical features activist and “valve turner” Ken Ward as he engages in direct action and civil disobedience to combat the fossil fuels industry and climate change, from a feeling of moral obligation to future generations. UU congregations that host a community screening can get a 20% discount via UUMFE! Screening kits include a discussion guide. Learn more and schedule a screening.
Get on the Map!
Join UU congregations everywhere in connecting with our larger UU movement and surrounding communities by getting on the Earth Day map! Is your congregation planning one or more Earth Day or Climate Justice Month events? Register your event(s) with UUMFE to get on the map, get connected, and get entered into a raffle for a gift certificate to the UUA Bookstore.
