UU Ministry for Earth

Dear friend,

Yesterday, the Unis'tot'en Camp Matriarchs and allied water protectors were arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) after a five-day raid, while in prayer for missing and murdered Indigenous women. They were inviting the spirits of these lost sisters to join the Unis'tot'en Camp in protecting their land and lifeways from an onslaught of fossil fuel projects. People are rising up all over Turtle Island this week, blocking ports, bridges, and government buildings in solidarity with the Unist'ot'en Clan of the Wet'suwet'en First Nation.

I lift this up because the UU Ministry for Earth is grounded in the values and principles of environmental justice --- including the recognition of Indigenous sovereignty rights. I hope that you might take a little bit of time today to deepen your awareness, prayers, and solidarity with these brave leaders who have been forging an unrelenting opposition to numerous fossil fuel pipeline projects for thirteen years (or longer, depending on how you look at it).

Thank you for reading and being part of the UU Ministry for Earth. Please see below for some highlights and exciting news for UUMFE's upcoming Spring for Change 2020 season!

In faith,
