Meet the UU Advocates at the UN Climate Talks

For many, the COP24 Climate Summit is the most important climate negotiation since the Paris Agreement. This year’s summit asks countries to agree on the rules for turning the vision of the Paris Agreement into a reality and to set stronger climate action in motion.

The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and UU Service Committee (UUSC) begin their advocacy today at the 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The UUA has been active as an observer organization and faith advocate for ambitious and just climate action at the UNFCCC climate talks every year since 2015 when the Paris Agreement was established.

Unitarian Universalists are one voice among a strong Interfaith presence at the UN climate talks that will be engaging in worship, dialogue, and faith-based advocacy for ambitious and morally grounded climate commitments.

ACTIVATION

Apply for the Greenpeace Action Camp

This March, Greenpeace will gather together with over 125 activists from around the country to hold their 8th annual Greenpeace Action Camp. All members of UUMFE are invited to apply. Greenpeace is dedicated to using the Action Camp to continue to build pockets of beautiful resistance, in spite of the outrageous injustices being perpetrated against our communities and the environment. The primary skill tracks offered at camp are the Activists’ ABCs: Arts and Creative Resistance, Blockades,
and Climbing.

The camp will be held in the Tampa, Florida, area March 21-25, 2019 - The deadline for applications is January 7th

Even more critical is the evidence of what our climate will do to future generations, our children and our children's children. On November 24, thirteen federal agencies published the Fourth National Climate Assesment. Make Plans for Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is a time to connect to the winter, the natural world, the turning of the seasons and the beginning of a new solar year. It is also a beautiful time to connect to ancestral traditions, rituals, and histories. How will you celebrate or observe the solstice this year?
