Letter Writing to NoDAPL Political Prisoners
Tuesday, April 6 at 4 PT / 5 MT / 6 CT / 7 ET

Join the Unitarian Universalist Association, UU Ministry For Earth, UU Service Committee and Love Resists for a letter writing campaign to show solidarity with Steve Martinez, a NoDAPL political prisoner who has been recently incarcerated after refusing to face a grand jury for a second time. Steve, an Indigenous water protector, was first subpoenaed to a federal grand jury in 2017 for his participation in the NoDAPL resistance movement and refused to comply then as now. This recent targeting came as a disconcerting surprise to many who have been supporting water protector political prisoners for the past four years. On the call, hear from Water Protectors and UU organizers about Steve’s current legal situation, and write your own letter to Steve and other NoDAPL political prisoners.

Another way to support is to DONATE to Steve Martinez’s GoFundMe.

UUJEC Monthly Webinar: The End of Ice
Thursday, April 8 at 5 PT / 6 MT / 7 CT / 8 ET

Join UUs for a Just Economic Community (UUJEC) for this upcoming monthly webinar, featuring special guest Dahr Jamail, author of The End of Ice. This webinar will include a brief overview of how far along we are with climate disruption, then shift into spending the majority of time addressing how we find meaning, and purpose, during such a time. The Earth is now experiencing human-caused climate disruption at an ever-accelerating pace. At present, even the best case mitigation strategies will not stave off catastrophic changes that are already heated into the biosphere. How, then, shall we live? The End of Ice is one of Smithsonian Magazine’s 10 Best Science Books of 2019, and was a finalist for the PEN/E.O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award in 2020. UUJEC hosts webinars on the first Thursdays of each month, available streamed on their Facebook page or on Zoom through the link below.
