In it she says, "May our love of this blue green earth feed our souls to act on its behalf. Whether we choose to put our bodies in front of a pipeline, or throw our considerable energies into legislation for just energy transitions, may we do so centering the margins. Whether we work for food justice or protecting and sharing the earth’s water; whether we dance, paint, sing or pray for climate justice; let us remember this is a unique moment - a time when we are called to rise for all life and the lives of generations to come." 

In this spirit, the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and the Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth (UUMFE) are calling on all Unitarian Universalists to unite and Create Climate Justice as an embodiment of our Unitarian Universalist faith.

Indigenous Frontline Solidarity
 

• Promise to Protect #NoKXL Campaign - The Promise to Protect campaign, which has been endorsed by both the UUA & UUMFE, is currently hosting a training tour and will be in Seattle and NYC on April 27, 28 / Chicago on May 4, 4 / Boston and Miami on May 11 and 12. Given that the Trump Administration recently issued a second "presidential permit" for the KXL pipeline, this campaign is likely to heat up sooner rather than later… If you are feeling compelled to engage in this campaign long-term, join the group titled "NO KXL - Promise to Protect" on Create Climate Justice Net.
• Water Protector Prisoner Support - Water Protector Dion Ortiz has been released from prison and is on his way home to New Mexico to serve the rest of his time at a halfway house.
• If you would like to engage in water protector prisoner support long-term, join the group titled "Water Protectors Prisoner Support" on Create Climate Justice Net.
• The UUSC brought together Indigenous leaders at the forefront of climate forced displacement in October 2018. They have recently released new information about the outcomes of this historic gathering. Read more about it on the UUSC website.
• The UUA, Minnesota UU Social Justice Alliance (MUUSJA), and Bismarck-Mandan UU Congregation are signatories on a recent request to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) for a thematic hearing on the suppression of Indigenous human rights organized by the Water Protector Legal Collective and the Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy Program.

Climate Policy & Just Transitions
 

• Tell U.S. Senators to Address the Climate Crisis – Write Here! Write Now! Organize a letter-writing table at your congregation to tell your US Senators for strong climate action! The UUs for Social Justice Advocacy Corps will hand deliver your letters on May 14th.
• The Unitarian Universalist Association has endorsed the Energy Innovation & Carbon Dividend Act, in response to a request from the UU Citizen’s Climate Lobby Action Team!
• Green New Deal (GND) Tour - The Sunrise Movement is touring the US in April and May to galvanize support for the goals of the GND with deep education and organizing in cities across the country.
• We Are Still In - The UUA & UUMFE have both endorsed the We Are Still In efforts to meet the United States’ commitment to the Paris Climate Accords with or without the federal government. UU congregations and organizations can register their climate work with this initiative in order to have it counted towards this massive effort.
